Sunday Morning RoundUp!

Last week we finished our Sunday Morning Painting class and it was quite an experience.  We spent one week in each colour and talked about the corresponding chakra – Brie Reid from Zen Bones Yoga (our neighbour upstairs!) mirrored the colour and chakra in her yoga classes throughout each week.  And so we made our way up and through.  Here are some pictures of our experience:

WELCOME TO THE PLEASURE DOME

Into our second week of the Sunday morning ritual class we jumped into ORANGE!

Our first step towards pleasure was to do some work with the affirmation associated with this chakra and the colour orange:

1. I deserve pleasure in my life
2. I absorb information from my feelings.
3. I embrace and celebrate my sexuality.
4. I move easily and effortlessly.
5. A strong community is available to me.
6. I trust and follow my intuition.

I embrace and celebrate my sexuality.

In groups we created clay pieces to reflect these affirmations and to find another way to hold them in our bodies.  Then we moved on to creating with ink and paint.

Sunday Morning Ritual Class begins…..

On October 16th we jumped with full abandon into our colour project.  We started a seven week journey into colour and our first week was spent in RED.  Here is a sampling of the work and the experience!

Studio Tour 2011

The Red Onion Art Studio participated in its first show the weekend of October 1 and 2nd in the Newmarket Studio Tour.  We created a beautiful space to show and sell our art.  We also celebrated the official launch of our actual working art studio, a little space attached to The Invisible City.  Both of these spaces were used in the Studio Tour and it was two days of hanging out with fellow artists, munching on goodies, enjoying the company of everyone that dropped in to check out the art.

Sunday Morning painting class is fillin’ UP!

Anyone still just thinking about taking the Sunday Morning painting class this fall needs to jump on in.  This class is filling rapidly and as exciting as that is, I want everyone who wants a spot to get in.

  The class starts on October 16th and runs through to November 27th – 9-12.  That is seven Sunday mornings of blissful painting, eating, chatting and growing.  The fee is 400.00, all materials included and you pay when the class begins.

So many things to share:

• This Saturday, July 30th – Bridget and Juliette will take part in the first Newmarket Artist Market at the Timothy Street Market, in the new grassy, area that has recently been created beside the Farmer’s Market. Come and check out what we have been creating this summer.  We will be there again on August 20th!
• Studio Tour – The Red Onion Collective – Bridget, Juliette and Michelle – are part of the Newmarket Studio Tour this year.  Our location will be the Invisible City – this tour is October 1 and 2, 2011.  It is part of a large, emerging artist network in Newmarket, come out and meet the artists, enjoy some good music, food and art.  Lots of shopping opportunities….
• Sunday morning ritual – This is a painting class being offered at The Invisible City this fall.  Starts October 16th and will run for Seven Sunday mornings, 9-12.  Led by Juliette and Bridget –  if you have never had the chance to paint with us before consider this one – it will be fabulous.  As always we like to enjoy food, music, painting and conversation as a whole.  Sign up is already in progress and space will have to be somewhat limited so get your spot now.  You can register on my website – www.pipermartin.com

Landing on Earth
